A little care goes a long way.
To help keep your Born Red jewelry looking its best, we recommend following the care tips below — especially for plated pieces.
As some of our pieces are plated, we recommend following the care instructions below.
Everyday Care
Keep your jewelry dry
Remove your jewelry before showering, swimming, bathing or entering a sauna. Prolonged exposure to water, chlorine and salt water may affect the surface and plating.
Avoid contact with chemicals
Keep your jewelry away from perfume, hairspray, lotions, sunscreen, cosmetics and household cleaning products.
For best results, apply beauty products first and allow them to dry before putting on your jewelry.
Remove before sleeping or exercising
Sweat, friction and pressure may gradually affect the surface of your jewelry. Delicate chains and adjustable pieces may also become bent or damaged during sleep or exercise.
Gold-Plated Stainless Steel
Gold-plated stainless steel is durable and resistant to everyday wear, but the plated finish may gradually fade over time.
To help maintain its colour and shine:
-
Avoid prolonged contact with water
-
Keep away from perfume, lotions and chemicals
-
Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth after wearing
-
Store in a cool, dry place when not in use
The lifespan of the plating may vary depending on frequency of wear, skin chemistry, moisture and how the jewelry is cared for.
Gold-Plated Brass
Gold-plated brass requires a little extra care to preserve its finish.
We recommend:
-
Keeping the jewelry as dry as possible
-
Avoiding direct contact with sweat, perfume, cosmetics and chemicals
-
Removing it before showering, swimming or exercising
-
Wiping it gently after each wear
-
Storing it separately in a dry jewelry pouch or sealed bag
Exposure to moisture and air may naturally cause brass or its plated finish to change over time.
Cleaning Your Jewelry
After wearing, gently wipe your jewelry with a soft, dry cloth to remove oils, moisture and residue.
Avoid using:
-
Abrasive cleaners
-
Harsh chemicals
-
Alcohol-based cleaning products
-
Toothpaste
-
Rough polishing materials
Do not scrub or polish plated jewelry aggressively, as this may damage the finish.
Adjustable Jewelry
For adjustable rings and other adjustable pieces, gently adjust the jewelry to your preferred fit.
Avoid frequent or excessive bending, as repeated adjustment may weaken the metal, affect its shape or damage the plating.
Storage
Store your jewelry in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and humidity.
We recommend keeping each piece separately in a jewelry pouch, box or sealed bag to help prevent scratching, tangling and unnecessary contact with other jewelry.
Make sure your jewelry is completely dry before storing it.
Please Note
Plated jewelry may naturally experience gradual fading or changes in finish with regular wear. This can vary depending on frequency of wear, skin chemistry, exposure to moisture and individual care habits.
Normal wear and gradual fading of plating are not considered manufacturing defects.
With proper care, you can help keep your BornRed pieces looking beautiful for longer.
